Remade with Paper and Thread Series
My current work Remades, is a series of prints that continues to explore and develop imagery which aims to reduce waste materials and create a narrative on 'fast fashion'. Using existing unfinished prints and second-hand clothing to print various textures onto paper, I collage a composition of printed papers, vintage dressmaking paper and use stitch to create a narrative on the fashion industries continual production of huge quantities of clothing that ends up in land-fill and pollute our planet.

Assemblage Series
'Assemblage....a work of art made by grouping found or unrelated objects'

This series of prints was inspired by memories of my mothers sewing room, particularly her dressmaking skills. As an avid collector of all things textile, I've explored the textures of collected fabrics using mono-printing and then embellished and texturised them further using buttons, thread, old sewing patterns, cut paper and thread.

Bubble Series
‘Living in a bubble’ is a phrase synonymous with the Coronavirus pandemic. An invisible, devastating enemy caused a global shift in how we lived our lives in 2020, and beyond.

‘Bubble Series’ references and pays homage to 19th century paintings by war artists. I was inspired by their use of colour to impart the feeling of chaos, desolation and loss that they witnessed. My aim was to portray these artists colours in re-imagined artworks that represent a 21st century viral war, which like previous wars before resulted in the tragic loss of millions of innocent individuals, and was frightening, confusing and lonely.

Material World 2020 Series
My latest series of prints created in lockdown, focuses on recycling. 2020 was a year of respite for the environment and galvanised me into use saved materials from nature and man. My collection of feathers and leaves from the garden, along with scraps of textured fabric and wallpaper. Mono printing highlights the delicacy of nature juxtaposed against the textural, sometimes indestructible, quality of man made items.

Anomaly Series I
The ‘Anomaly Series I’, uses a photo stencil of hand-knitted wire and knitting needles as the starting point for developing and exploring imagery to visualize the healing aspect of stitch during what was a traumatic experience. My series portrays the two-fold aspects of physical and emotional healing; casting one stitch, then many, knitting into each and creating a fabric is a process which heals and protects the psyche, much like human cells that replicate to produce tissue that binds, seals and protects. Stitch can therefore be seen as a metaphor for growth and renewal, and a healing and mending of both mind and body.

Autumn Series
I am inspired by the winter foliage in my garden, which I use together with my hand-made machine lace, and found objects to compose delicate images of seasonal beauty.
